About Us

Lucy’s Pantry is a community grocery shop supporting individuals and families across Walsall who are experiencing financial hardship. By providing affordable food, reducing food waste, and connecting people to wider community support, the pantry helps local residents access essential groceries with dignity and choice. Alongside food provision, Lucy’s Pantry works with a range of partners to promote wellbeing, reduce social isolation, and strengthen community resilience.

The Role

We are looking for a reliable, friendly, and community-minded Volunteer Delivery Driver to support Lucys Pantry by collecting and delivering food, donations, and essential supplies across Walsall and the surrounding areas.

Mileage will be paid, and agreed expenses incurred as part of your volunteering will be reimbursed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliveries and Collections - Safely collect food, donations, and essential supplies for Lucys Pantry, and deliver food parcels and other essential items to individuals, families, partner organisations, and community locations across Walsall and the surrounding areas.
  • Vehicle Safety - Ensure your vehicle is roadworthy, clean, and suitable for transporting deliveries safely.
  • Loading and Unloading - Assist with loading and unloading food parcels ensuring items are handled with care.
  • Customer Service - Provide a friendly, professional, and respectful service when interacting with members of the community, volunteers, and partner organisations.
  • Record Keeping - Maintain basic delivery records as necessry and report completed deliveries or any issues to the Lucys Pantry team.
  • Health and Safety - Follow all health and safety procedures, including safe manual handling practices and food hygiene requirements where applicable.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Full UK driving licence and a clean or acceptable driving record.
  • Access to a reliable, roadworthy vehicle with valid insurance, MOT and road tax.
  • Confident driving in Walsall and the surrounding areas.
  • Good time management and organisational skills.
  • Friendly, reliable, and professional manner.
  • Ability to lift and carry food boxes and deliveries safely.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and treating all service users with dignity and respect.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Previous experience in a delivery, driving, or community support role.
  • Knowledge of the local Walsall area and surrounding communities.
  • Basic manual handling awareness or training.
  • Experience working or volunteering within the charity or community sector
