Invictus Games Spirit 27

INVICTUS GAMES SPIRIT 27

More than a volunteer.

What does Spirit 27 mean?

Invictus Games Spirit 27 is more than a volunteer programme. It is a community united by a shared purpose: to help bring the Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 to life and create an experience that matters.

The word Spirit represents the collective energy, compassion and commitment of the people who make every Invictus Games possible. 27 connects that spirit to Birmingham and the West Midlands, where the world will come together in July 2027.

By volunteering, you become more than a volunteer. You become part of someone's recovery journey.

Through the welcome you give, the support you offer and the connections you help create, you can contribute to an environment where competitors feel included, supported and able to focus on their own journey. You may never know the full impact of a small interaction, but it can be part of an experience that helps someone reconnect with others, rebuild confidence and recognise what is possible.

You are not responsible for someone's recovery. But you can help create the conditions in which connection, belonging and recovery can flourish.

Why is this unlike any other volunteering opportunity?

The Invictus Games bring together competitors, families, spectators, nations, partners and communities from around the world. Birmingham and the West Midlands will welcome them all for an international sporting event with a deeper human purpose.

As a volunteer, you will help deliver that experience. You will meet people you might never otherwise meet, develop new skills, build friendships and create memories that last long after the Games have finished.

The people competing at the Games have served their countries and allies, and many are navigating the lasting effects of physical injuries or illness, including trauma that may not be visible. The Games provide a platform for them to pursue recovery, reconnect with others and challenge perceptions of what life after injury or illness can look like.

Volunteers help make that experience possible. Every welcome, every act of support and every moment of human connection contributes to the environment in which competitors, families and visitors experience the Games.

You are not simply helping to deliver an event. You are contributing to an experience that can mean something to the people at its heart.

That is what makes Invictus Games Spirit 27 different. It is the opportunity to be part of something bigger than yourself, make a meaningful contribution to others and share in an extraordinary collective experience.

The spirit we want people to join

Spirit 27 is about belonging. It is about people from different backgrounds, communities and experiences coming together with a shared sense of purpose.

It is about the pride of helping Birmingham and the West Midlands welcome the world. It is about the human connections that make people feel seen, valued and included. And it is about understanding that, while every volunteer has a different role, every contribution helps shape the experience of the Games.

You do not need previous volunteering experience or specialist sporting knowledge. You need the willingness to get involved, work as part of a team and help create a welcoming, inclusive environment for everyone.

In return, you will gain the experience of being part of an international event, meet people who broaden your perspective and play a role in something that extends far beyond the competition itself.

The invitation

In July 2027, we need 1,900 volunteers to help bring the Invictus Games to life.

We are looking for people who want to contribute, connect and be part of something meaningful. People who want to represent their communities, try something new and help create an experience that competitors, families and visitors will remember.

Every role matters. Every person contributes. Together, we can create the spirit that defines the Games.

Invictus Games Spirit 27. More than a volunteer. Part of someone's recovery journey.

The world is coming to Birmingham. Be part of it.
