Gardening & Maintenance

Volunteers will assist Hucker Road Allotments Association with the regular upkeep, maintenance and improvement of communal areas across the allotment site.

Tasks will include:

- Weeding and clearing overgrown communal areas.

- Cutting back vegetation and keeping shared pathways clear and accessible.

- General gardening, planting and seasonal maintenance.

- Litter picking and removing garden debris.

- Tidying communal spaces and maintaining shared areas.

- Helping with occasional larger site improvement and clearance projects.

- Supporting the association in keeping the allotments safe, tidy and welcoming for all members.

Volunteers will only work in communal areas, not on individual allotment plots.

We are looking for reliable volunteers who can offer regular support, ideally weekly, fortnightly or monthly, depending on their availability.

Tasks will be allocated according to volunteers' abilities and experience, with appropriate guidance and supervision provided by the association.

No previous gardening experience is necessary, just a willingness to help, work outdoors and contribute to the local community.

As a volunteer-supported association, we are keen to encourage community participation and develop opportunities for local people to get involved in maintaining and improving our shared green spaces for everyone's benefit.

Organisation

Hucker Road Allotments Association

Hucker Road Allotments Association is a community-run allotment site based in the WS2 area of Walsall. The site is managed by an association with trustees and a formal lease, providing local residents with opportunities to grow their own fruit, vegetables and plants.

Our aim is to promote gardening, healthy living, environmental sustainability, biodiversity and community involvement.

We work to maintain a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment where allotment holders can enjoy gardening, connect with nature and be part of a supportive local community.
