Mosaic Volunteer Role – Duties and Tasks
As a Mosaic volunteer, you will play a key role in supporting neurodiverse individuals and families, helping to create an inclusive, welcoming, and supportive environment. Tasks may vary depending on your skills, availability, and the needs of the project, but may include
Support and Engagement
- Welcome participants and assist them in feeling comfortable at sessions or events
- Offer a listening ear and provide encouragement in group activities
- Help facilitate inclusive activities for children, young people, or adults
- Support parents/carers with information, reassurance, and signposting when appropriate
Practical Assistance
- Set up and pack away resources or materials before and after sessions
- Help with preparing refreshments or managing light catering duties
- Assist with maintaining a clean, safe, and organised environment
Keep a basic attendance log or help collect feedback forms
Communication and Promotion
- Share Mosaic’s values and purpose with attendees and the community
- Help promote upcoming sessions, events, and activities
- Support social media content creation (optional, based on interest/skills)
- Provide feedback to the team on what is working well or any concerns
Safeguarding and Inclusivity
- Follow Mosaic’s safeguarding, confidentiality, and equality policies
- Report any concerns or incidents to the appropriate staff member
- Respect the lived experiences, identities, and needs of all participants
Optional Opportunities
- Take part in training and workshops relevant to the role (e.g. autism awareness, Makaton basics, safeguarding)
- Get involved in planning or co-delivering workshops or well-being activities
- Join in reflective practice sessions to share your ideas and grow as part of the team
Time Commitment: Flexible — even 2–3 hours per week can make a big difference.
Support Provided: Induction, ongoing guidance, and optional training opportunities.
Ideal For: Compassionate individuals with lived or professional experience of neurodiversity or a willingness to learn.
