Link Worker – Job Description
The West Midlands Self Advocacy Network is looking for one Link Worker from each area to represent their local community or their self advocacy group.
About the role
The Link Worker will be a person with a learning disability or autism.
The Link Worker will be employed by the local Self Advocacy Group but will be funded by the Network.
The Link Worker will be the person who shares the views of their learning disability community with the Network.
The Link Worker will also share information from the Network with their community.
About the salary
This is a paid role at £9.00 per hour for up to 5 hours per week. The Link Worker will be supported to do their job by support staff from their local Self Advocacy group.
They will also be able to claim for travel expenses when doing work for the Network.
Every month, the Link Worker will need to send to the Network Coordinator:
- A travel expenses claim with receipts or tickets, showing where they have been and why
- A time sheet showing the hours they have worked and what they have been working on
The Link Worker should attend the West Midlands Self Advocacy Network meetings. These will be every 3 months.
The Link Worker will be supported to do this role by staff from the Walsall team.
The Link worker must tell the DWP that they have a new job. The Link Worker may have to fill in a form called “Permitted Work.”
