Social Media VolunteerBlack Country Women’s Aid (BCWA) is an established charity that provides a range of specialist abuse support services to women, men and children across the Black Country. Our holistic, trauma-informed support enables victims to escape violence and abuse, cope with trauma and build resilience.

Role details and requirements

Social Media Volunteers volunteer alongside our Communications Officer, creating content that ensures information about the services Black Country Women’s Aid provide is widely available across communities. They help people connect with us online and learn more about how we help survivors cope and recover, alongside creating content and materials that educate people on challenging abuse and violence. Social Media Volunteers help BCWA further engage with the community and other sector partners. They collaborate with BCWA Service Managers and different teams to build content that effectively promotes services, events or fundraising drives. They think creatively, contributing their own ideas for content and bringing these to life. 



Responsibilities include: 

- Collaborate with BCWA staff to create content for sharing on BCWA’s social media, website and internal intranet. 

- Prepare materials for posting or events, including leaflets and posters. 

- Research community groups, local organisations, businesses, charities, and agencies for engagement. 

- Curate your own ideas for content and liaise with our Communications Officer to bring these to life. 

- Engage with BCWA teams to promote their events or fundraising drives. 

- Ensuring all materials are kept organised and are easy for BCWA service staff and managers to access. 

What skills does the volunteer need for this role:

Solid IT literacy or a quick learner who can navigate digital systems. 

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Creative and enthusiastic about new ideas, trends and opportunities to curate content.

Happy to be flexible with the tasks you are carrying out and able to keep motivated with volunteering on your own.

Be good at listening - hear what a person is communicating and take time to do this actively

Be reliable - keep to agreed appointments and carry out agreed tasks.

Have a non-judgmental attitude and be accepting of diversity and difference.

Willing to complete the required training to allow you to fulfil your role.
