Opportunities

Kitchen Volunteer

  • To plan, prepare, cook and serve meals for the Service Users of the Glebe.
  • To maintain strict levels of hygiene in all areas of the kitchen in line with Food Hygiene/Environmental Health standards and requirements.
  • To take responsibility of kitchen stock and support with the processing of donations relevant to the provision of food.
  • To support in the planning of menus that utilise the resources available.
  • To support in the delivery of Cook and Eat skills sessions for and with Service Users.
  • Previous experience undertaking a cooking role.
  • Minimum of L2 Food Safety and Hygiene trained.
  • Understanding of Allergens and other Food Intolerances.

Organisation

The Glebe Centre (Part of YMCA Black Country)

The Glebe Centre is a multifunctional hub funded to work specifically with people from Walsall who are over 18 years and who are rough sleepers, homeless, insecurely housed, drug users and/or alcohol users to provide support services and access to practical facilities.

DBS is required and will be paid for by the organisation,  Glebe Centre are unable to reimburse any expenses. However, volunteers are able to have a free lunch at the Centre on the days they volunteer with us provided their volunteering hours cover our lunch period.

Our opening days are Mon-Fri (no weekend volunteering opportunities). Volunteering hours are between 9am-4pm.
