About the Project
The Nature Nook Sensory Garden is a new community space designed to promote wellbeing, creativity, and connection with nature. It offers a calming environment for individuals and families to relax, learn, and grow together through gardening, sensory exploration, and seasonal activities. Volunteers are at the heart of keeping this garden thriving and making it a welcoming place for all.


Role Purpose
As a Nature Nook Nurturer, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining the beauty and health of the garden while also helping to deliver fun and meaningful activities. From planting and watering to supporting family workshops and games, you’ll be helping to create a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable space for the whole community.

Key Responsibilities
🌱 Garden Care & Maintenance
•    Assist with watering, weeding, planting, pruning, and general garden upkeep.
•    Help monitor the wellbeing of plants and suggest improvements for the space.
•    Support seasonal planting and creative displays that keep the garden vibrant year-round.

👨‍👩‍👧 Activity Support
•    Assist staff in delivering activities such as planting sessions with families, nature-based games, and hands-on workshops.
•    Encourage participation and help visitors of all ages feel confident and included.
•    Prepare materials and tidy up after sessions to keep the space welcoming.

💛 Community Engagement
•    Welcome visitors warmly, answer basic questions, and encourage them to explore the garden.
•    Act as a friendly presence, helping to foster a safe and supportive environment.
•    Support special events such as garden openings, seasonal celebrations, or community days.

What We’re Looking For
•    A genuine interest in gardening, nature, or outdoor activities.
•    Friendly, patient, and approachable with good communication skills.
•    Comfortable engaging with people of different ages, backgrounds, and abilities.
•    A willingness to work outdoors in all seasons (with appropriate clothing provided if needed).
•    Reliability and a positive, can-do attitude.
•    No prior gardening experience required—just enthusiasm and willingness to learn!

Support the development and progress of children, young people and adults who have a neurological/neurodevelopmental condition, enabling them to live a well lived life.

Our Mission

  • To support the parents/carers of children, young people and adults who have a diagnosis or are seeking a diagnosis of neurological/neurodevelopmental conditions.
  • To support children, young people and adults who are seeking a diagnosis/diagnosed with a neurological/neurodevelopmental condition. 
  • Provide group support and sessions to support, empower and develop an understanding of neurological/neurodevelopmental conditions, so that families can confidently support their child’s development throughout life.
