Befriender

As a Volunteer Befriender you can support us with providing much needed services to our most socially isolated individuals.

Our Volunteer Befrienders can undertake the following:
• Encourage friendship and support for socially isolated people including those in care homes.
• Identify ways to meaningfully engage with people who may be withdrawn
• Contribute to the person’s wellbeing by supporting the person to engage with interests, hobbies and creative endeavours
• Identify issues at an early point before crisis occurs and signpost to external advice services if needed
• Help to alleviate social isolation

Advocacy Matters

Advocacy Matters

Advocacy Matters is a charity which has provided independent advocacy support in Birmingham and Walsall since 2002.  We provide Independent Advocacy support to over 1000 adults at risk or whom require a service in Birmingham and Walsall every year.

Advocacy Matters provides both statutory and community-based advocacy projects. Advocates are independent of the Local Authority, NHS and other services. Advocacy from Advocacy Matters is free at the point of access for people who need to use our service.

They empower their advocacy partners, ensuring that they have a say in their lives and about the issues that matter to them.  Advocacy supports inclusion and social justice and aim to provide adults at risk with an independent advocate to ensure individuals are heard & their rights, concerns & needs are acted upon.
