Urgent and Emergency Care Centre Responder(Age 18 +)

This role will be located within the brand new Urgent and Emergency Care Centre which will be opening soon.

Outline of tasks/duties for this role:

  • Providing food & drinks to patients and visitors as appropriate.
  • Support staff wellbeing by providing light refreshments.
  • Signposting and directing patients and visitors around the department.
  • Assisting staff to keep the environment pleasant and attractive.
  • Collecting and delivering items to and from the department.
  • Promoting the Friends and Family Test survey to patients and their families.
  • Additional tasks as required by the department and within the scope of a volunteer role.

Ideally volunteers will attend in a regular slot for this role however we can discuss flexibility and we do have other volunteer roles which are more flexible.

What skills does the volunteer need for this role?

  • Willingness to help, adaptable and a ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Ability to combine enthusiasm and friendliness with compassion and sensitivity.
  • Understand and respect patient confidentiality, privacy and dignity.
  • Ability to maintain professional standards.
  • Understand and respect boundaries of the role.
  • Willingness to undertake training as required.
  • Reliable and trustworthy.

An enhanced DBS is required. Organisation will pay for this.

Travel costs are covered an a meal allowance is available for those volunteering more than 5 hours in one shift.
