Volunteers' Week Celebrations
Every year, One Walsall joins hundreds of Community and Voluntary organisations up and down the UK to celebrate and raise awareness of volunteers and the fantastic support they provide to our communities and local organisations.
Because life took an unexpected turn in March 2020, One Walsall wanted to do something a little different and are proud to be hosting a virtual event to showcase and celebrate the amazing contribution of volunteers in Walsall who came from all walks of life and age groups in their hundreds to support both organisations and their local communities just when they were needed the most.
Volunteers' Week runs from 1st to 7th June and each day during this week we will feature a new theme.
We hope you can join in by sharing the content on your own social media, using the hashtag #VolunteersWeek and sending us your volunteering stories so that we can continue to shine a spot light on the special people who give their time quietly to a range of excellent causes:
Here’s what we have coming up during Volunteers' Week 2021:
Celebrating our Community Heroes!
We will be launching our first day with a big thank you and a small surprise for all those who volunteered as part of the pandemic relief efforts in Walsall.
Celebrating our Unsung Volunteer Heroes!
A chance to hear about those long-standing volunteers who support their communities, year in and year out, for a good cause.
We want to shine a light on these absolute stars!
Celebrating our Young Volunteers!
Young people represent the future of our communities.
Here’s your chance to see what fantastic work they do and to share stories about your amazing young volunteers!

Volunteering and Your Wellbeing!
Volunteering is a great way to engage with your local community, connect with those around you and can help you to feel good!
At One Walsall we are lucky to have a Communications Officer Intern, David Blakemore, who works alongside the team to promote the work they do and is a massive support to the whole team. David has developed this slideshow to show the benefits of volunteering:
We have all seen how volunteers have supported our health and care systems in the past year to help our most vulnerable residents and in the huge effort to support the vaccine roll out.
This day is dedicated to looking at how we did this, as well as future plans for volunteering in health.
See some of the comments from our partners we had during this time:
Celebrating our Trustees!
Do you have what it takes to become a charity trustee?
Have you ever wondered what it involves?
They are the cogs that keep our voluntary and community groups turning!

The role of a Trustee
This video gives an overview of what it's like to be a Trustee of a Charity.
It gives some ideas around the role you may undertake whilst in the role of Trustee and also what skills you may need to undertake this role.
Farewell to Volunteers Week!
A final Thank you to all of the amazing volunteers who have contributed over the last year, prior to and will continue to volunteer beyond this year.

Walsall Volunteer Plus
We have been working in partnership with Walsall College in order to give back to the amazing volunteers who have given their time and dedication to supporting voluntary and community groups across Walsall.
In partnership with the College we are offering a new volunteering programme called Walsall Volunteer Plus, the new skills programme that gives Walsall volunteers a chance to try free, bitesize courses in subjects of their choice and interest!
