The Haven Wolverhampton established in 1973 provides safe, temporary accommodation for women and children who are homeless for reasons such as Domestic Violence and who seek emergency accommodation. Applications are invited for the following post, from women who have a strong commitment to working with women and children.
Working alongside our Community Team workers who support women affected by domestic abuse the Community Therapeutic Worker will maintain the equilibrium of families by providing low level therapeutic support to children and their mothers who maybe on the edge of care. The post holder will ensure children and young people experience improved emotional and behavioural wellbeing throughout the course of the project and use monitoring tools, Early Help Assessments and Individual Support Plans to measure the child/young person’s journey and track differences made in line with project outcomes.
To be successful in either of these roles you will hold a qualification in working with Children and Young People and a therapeutic qualification, have recent experience of engaging with Children and Young People who are vulnerable and hard to reach and have sound knowledge in group and one to one therapeutic interventions and be qualified to deliver a varied range of therapeutic and tailored interventions that is designed for various age groups and family sessions within The Haven’s services.
In addition, you will have experience and competency in supporting staff, volunteers and social work students in setting up additional services beneficial to Children and Young People’s needs in a residential setting. You will lead on the preparation of reports case studies and data information in line with project outcomes and work plan. You will also have the ability to use own initiatives and lead on service provision for Children and Young People.
Ideally you will have knowledge and experience of partnership working with key organisation (Health, Education and Social Care, Safeguarding, Early Help Arrangements) in particular domestic abuse and homelessness. You will have sound knowledge of service available in the City of Wolverhampton to support the holistic needs of vulnerable Children and Young People.
