Organisation – Chasewater Railway
Role Title – Chasewater Railway Volunteer
Role Description – As a railway we operate steam and diesel heritage trains for 10 months of the year, mostly at weekends, but we also run mid-week during school holidays. We provide visitors with a feeling of what life was like when steam ruled the rails! We also have many events throughout the year, such as galas for the rail enthusiasts, 1940s weekends, vintage days, and events for children, such as ‘Pirates and Princess’ and our popular and very busy Santa specials towards the end of November and into December.
We always need volunteers for all areas of the railway, from booking offices, shops, engineering, and other behind -the -scenes areas, such as painting, restoration, gardening and more. There are also opportunities to work on the operational side of the railway as train crew. Locomotive crew roles are cleaner, fireman and driver; other roles include Guard and Travelling Ticket Inspector who is also known as the TTI.
Don’t worry if you have no experience in these areas, full training will be given, and it’s a great place to learn a new craft or skill and make new friends!
