Do you work with NEET young people, including hidden ones? If so, Rathbone UK would be very interested in speaking with you to see whether you could be supported.
Rathbone UK offer study programmes individually tailored to every young person (16-18, but up to 24 with an EHC Plan) they support. They are able to do this because their centres are relatively small – which is also why they are able to work successfully with learners who have not progressed well at larger institutions. These employability programmes, which include maths and English, are linked with work experience in workplaces relevant to the learner’s vocational interest. Rathbone underpin delivery with robust ‘wrap-around’ advice and support to enable prevention; engagement; development and progression opportunities to take place. Learners on their programmes normally attend a centre (such as the one in Walsall) three days per week and then attend work placement for the remaining two days.
Rathbone UK also offer apprenticeships for those aged 16-23 in the Midlands in the following areas (Health & Social Care, Childcare, Business Administration, Youth Work and Supported Teaching and Learning). Learners undertaking an apprenticeship with Rathbone will be on Programme for 12 to 24 months dependent on the qualification and level.
Rathbone UK are also in the process of setting up two new teams: Youth and Community Engagement and Community Tutoring. In many cases they will go out to engage young people who are not in education, employment or training, and often in the first instance to deliver in community premises they are more comfortable with. These ‘pre-employability’ programmes, building resilience / character through social action and life skills (e.g. money management; cooking; cleaning), are really stepping stones to employability programmes, which themselves could potentially be delivered in the community.
