What is Employee Supported Volunteering?
Employer-supported volunteering is where the employees are enabled to take paid leave to take up volunteering opportunities. Employees are then able to choose to use the time to support a voluntary activity of their own choice, or one which their employee has provided.
What are the options?
For employee’s who want to identify their own volunteer opportunities we have XXXX amount of volunteer roles which can all be found here. For businesses who want to provide an opportunity then there are a range of options to choose from. Business can opt for team volunteering in the form of litter picks, DIY tasks and litter picks to name a few or, businesses can volunteer the skills they have within their businesses to support the many voluntary organisations that Walsall has.
By volunteering business skills, you will be enabling voluntary organisations to become future proofed as they progress with their aims. Skill sharing is also an excellent way to contribute to employee learning and an opportunity to test or learn new skills.
What are the benefits for charities/local groups?
Having volunteering opportunities for businesses to undertake can help build connections, with access to extra manpower to complete large one-off volunteering jobs when needed.
Community-based employee volunteering also helps to keep volunteering support local, where local businesses support local charities, who support local community projects.
