In recent discussions of the association the issue of the Broadway Centre has again been raised. The Clinical Commissioning Group have sent a notification of their intention to consult patients of the following doctor practices; The Limes, Sycamore House, Lichfield Street, and the Saddlers Health Centre. The proposal is to build a Health Centre for all four practices at the former Jabez Cliff factory Lower Forster Street. The location is inaccessible via public transport, the traffic volumes and the one-way system, being right on the Ring Road Junction and close proximity to a school will make access with a car impossible. We would expect NHS England and Walsall Council to work with our local GP Practices, together with local residents/patients and community groups to deliver a Heath & Community facility at the Broadway North Centre, Broadway North Walsall. The site is at the heart of our community, with excellent transport links and parking facilities.
We owe our thanks to the Park Hall Community Association at Broadway North. This is a very popular organisation attracting thousands of users but currently they have no security of tenure which limits any opportunity for funding. This appears not apply to the same type of community organisations in other areas of Walsall. We feel that Walsall Council should take immediate steps to remedy the situation and put Park Hall Community Association on the same footing. The creation of a combined Health and Community centre at the Broadway would be conclusive and deal with outstanding issues.
