An Intergenerational Health & Wellbeing Network for women is being launched on 8th March Thursday by the Walsall BME Advice Centre entitled ‘Our World’ Women’s from 1pm-3pm at the Community Engagement Centre in Pleck. With weekly meetings to follow the launch.
The project aims to encourage women to socialise, taking up healthy lifestyles, access statutory and essential services as well as reduce the risk of social isolation or living with long-term health conditions such as diabetes, dementia, depression, arthritis or experience anxiety, low self esteem or any other mental or physical health conditions.
Venue: The Community Engagement Centre (formerly Apna Ghar Day Centre), Ford Street, Pleck, Walsall WS2 9BW. Meeting every Thursday(except school holidays) from 1-2.30pm. It’s free to attend and free refreshments are provided.
Age and loneliness can be two of the significant risk factors for developing dementia, depression and other health issues and people from economically disadvantaged communities are the most high-risk groups. By promoting the benefits of physical activity and healthy living in a group setting, we aim to enable women, their carers and immediate family members to learn about important issues such as obesity and chronic and long-term diseases.
Activities will include seated exercise, Taikowando, workshops, group swimming sessions, awareness sessions, health checks, Skittles, Floor basketball, healthy cooking, basic baking, and various stimulating activities that cater to the needs of both younger and older adults.
Please come along to enjoy a free pampering session and opportunities to meet our ladies.
If you are an activity provider please get in touch with us to arrange some sessions.
