Who we are?
We are the voice of Walsall’s voluntary sector, providing help, support, advice and training for voluntary, community and not-for-profit groups and charities across Walsall. We are also an accredited Volunteer Centre that works in lots of different ways to help inspire and support social action.
What is the Outreach Project?
Our new project helps to combat social isolation and allows people to see volunteering in a positive light that can bring positive health benefits by raising self-esteem, confidence and provided much needed social contact and connections.
We are recruiting and training volunteers to go into different localities around Walsall and promote volunteering in health centres, local shops, libraries and other community venues. Our trained volunteers will be able to advise candidates on suitable roles, answer any questions and explain the benefits of volunteering, such as improving health, getting back into paid work or expanding their experiences and skill set.
What can you do to help?
We would like to place our volunteers in your venue. Our volunteers will be given mobile tablets to show the volunteering roles we have on offer, information leaflets to hand out, as well as providing a smile and a face to face conversation for many socially isolated people and those who want to give back to their local community.
If you are willing to help us with this project and think your venue is suitable please email Katerinad@onewalsall.org or call our office on 01922 619 840.
