Localism Act 2011 and the Assets of Community Value (England) Regulations 2012
Notice of receipt of a notification under section 95(2) of the Localism Act 2011
Former Mossley Youth Club and associated land to the rear, 88 Sneyd Land, Mossley, Walsall, WS3 2NA
Walsall Council gives notice that it has received notification from the owner of an intention to dispose of the former Mossley Youth Club and associated land at the rear listed by Walsall Council as an Asset of Community Value under the Localism Act 2011. The Council invites any eligible community interest group to express an interest to be treated as a potential bidder by 22nd April 2019.
The purpose of the Asset of Value listing is to provide the opportunity to defer the sale process to allow the community to consider whether it wishes to submit an intention to bid for the Asset.
The owner of the above listed property may not dispose of the asset during a 6 week initial period starting from the date the Council received the notification from the owner. During this 6 week period (the “interim moratorium”), a community group may request in writing to be treated as a potential bidder for the asset. This request would then result in a 6 month deferral of the disposal (the “full moratorium”).
To be eligible to request being treated as a possible bidder for the asset, a community interest group must have a local connection and have one or more of the following structures:
- A Parish Council
- A charity
- A company limited by guarantee that is non-profit distributing
- An industrial and provident society/community benefit society that is non-profit distributing
The deadline for receipt of written requests to be treated as a potential bidder is 22nd April 2019.
The expression of interest must be submitted to the below email address;
Walsall Council will, as soon as practicable, notify the owner of any requests that it receives.
