When her youngest child began school, Charlene decided it was time to take action and pursue her goal of building a social enterprise.
Char’s Visionary began in her living room, where she would invite women to come together to share ideas, gain information and receive coaching to move them forward. What began as a project launched at home, developed into Brainstorming Brunches with different groups in different restaurants, to it’s prominent position in Walsall Town Centre now.
Based in Old Square Shopping Centre, a range of services and support is offered from The Vision Spot including 1 to 1 Coaching, Group Coaching, Graphic Design, Business Plan Support and much more.
When not in her base, Charlene plays an active role as a resident of Mossley, Walsall. She is Home Start Trustee, as well as a member of the Mossley Partnership.
Her current project is a 6 week empowerment programme called Your Eyes, delivered to young people. This self-referral project aims to support young people in seeing themselves as their own hero. From confidence building to career planning, Charlene is committed to supporting young people to build a strong life foundation.
It’s important to Charlene that her work remains relatable, and that people from all walks of life can connect with her work. She states “I want people to build legacies, not careers,” and this is evident throughout her work and community commitments.
The finale of this programme will be a presentation evening on Friday 12th April at St Thomas Church in Mossley, where the young people can present their progress to an audience of parents, professionals, family and friends. Click here to book your tickets.
This is also a personal venture. After battling with Mental Health for years, Charlene feels she is en route to discovering her true self. In support of International Women’s Day, Charlene held an intimate event on Saturday 9th March where she shared her personal story. She feels her sharing of her journey was emotional and it was that very emotion that has helped her make an impact.
Charlene loves being based in Walsall Town Centre because it gives her an opportunity to have interesting conversations. She says some people just need to talk to someone and she is glad she can offer the time and space for those conversations to have.
Charlene plans to offer work experience to students, through Internship and Work Placements.
Charlene is actively looking for events to exhibit her organisation at.
Charlene also plans to develop a podcast in 2019, exploring the many mediums in which she can spread her message of empowerment and progress. Her podcast will be called Unlocking The Boxes and she is encouraging everyday men, women and young people to suggest topics for her to discuss.
